The MIT community gathers each spring at Awards Convocation to celebrate and honor students, faculty and staff for their contributions to the shared life of the Institute. At this year’s event, 51 community members received nearly 30 different awards for their service to the MIT and their accomplishments in the arts, athletics, student life, community service, academics and teaching.

“MIT gets a lot of attention for the energy we direct outward — toward the world’s great challenges and humanity’s intractable problems,” said Chancellor Eric Grimson in his welcoming remarks at the ceremony on Wednesday, May 9. “But as a campus, we also rely on our best and brightest to direct their passion and talents inward, here in Cambridge, to help MIT thrive as a community every day of every year. This is what we are here to celebrate today.”
