The MIT Undergraduate Association Events Committee has announced that rapper Lupe Fiasco and rhythm and blues group Bad Rabbits will be the artists for its upcoming SpringFest concert on April 25.
“The UA Events Committee held a study break last semester to gauge student opinion on who'd they'd like to see at the concert, in addition to sending out our survey for student responses,” Divya Shanmugam '17, co-chair of the UA Events Committee, says. “We went through feedback we got from both sources and brainstormed a couple artists, with Lupe Fiasco being the most preferred choice.”
Lupe Fiasco, a rapper from Chicago, will be headlining this year’s concert after releasing his newest album, “Tetsuo & Youth,” earlier this year. Bad Rabbits, an R&B group based out of Boston, will be opening.
Students can expect a wide variety of events and activities on the day of the event, ranging from food trucks to free tank tops and a campus-wide picnic earlier in the day.
“The concert is a well-deserved break from academics that MIT supports,” adds Shanmugam. “It's common at many other colleges to have a week full of events, creating more of a festival atmosphere, which we're experimenting with. We're really hoping to create an energetic, excited atmosphere across campus.”
SpringFest arrives on April 25, and tickets have already gone on presale for MIT students and community members priced at $12.50 and $15 per ticket, respectively. All tickets are available through the adMIT One service.
