With two weeks until the Boston Marathon, members of the MIT Strong marathon team are hitting the roads for their final training runs.
More than 20 of the team’s 39 members will run approximately 20 miles on the marathon course this Saturday, April 5, starting in Framingham and ending at the Zesiger Center on the MIT campus.
They will be joined by runners from the Collier Strong team, organized by members of the family of slain MIT Police Officer Sean Collier. Volunteers from the MIT community will staff water stops at intervals along the course.
The team is running the 2014 Boston Marathon to represent the MIT community on the marathon course, honor Collier’s life and sacrifice, and raise money for the Sean A. Collier Memorial Fund at MIT, established to carry the fallen officer’s legacy forward on the campus.
As of the first week of April, MIT Strong has raised more than $110,000. To see a full list of runners or to sponsor a runner, visit mitstrong.mit.edu.
