Donald W. Davis, former industry giant and longtime MIT lecturer, died Sept. 11. He was 89.
Davis had taught leadership in MIT's Leaders for Global Operations Program (LGO) and was a senior lecturer at the MIT Sloan School of Management for 22 years.
The former chairman and CEO of The Stanley Works, Davis came to MIT in 1988 because he wanted to contribute to the newly formed Leaders for Manufacturing Program (now LGO). Having spent 21 years as a CEO, he would go on to spend to spend 22 years of his "retirement" teaching leadership-for free.
