Orders for bouquets for Daffodil Days, the American Cancer Society fundraiser sponsored by the Women's League, will continue through the end of February, with deliveries scheduled for March 28.
Seventy coordinators in departments, labs and centers are taking orders, up from just 16 in 1998, the campaign's first year. MIT Mail Services will deliver the flowers to all 70 locations. "This has grown to be a very popular event, because I think cancer has touched many of the people who are working on it," said Janet Plotkin, campaign organizer and Women's League vice president of service projects.
Since the first Daffodil Days at MIT in 1998, MIT has raised $32,573 for cancer research, treatment and education.
Anyone who wants to purchase one of the $6 bouquets and hasn't been contacted by a coordinator may contact the Women's League office at x3-3656 or wleague@mit.edu.
