As of November 2, MIT's annual United Way campaign has netted $84,004 in pledges and donations from 365 employees, including 21 Leadership Givers pledging at least $1,000 apiece.
The Office of Special Community Services (OSCS) is planning to hold a United Way bake sale on December 11 in Lobby 7 beginning at 10am and a clothing and food drive for two weeks starting December 7. Locations of bins for donated items will be announced in a future issue of MIT Tech Talk.
Tech Talk hopes to profile volunteers in the MIT community who donate time to one of the many social-service agencies eligible to receive United Way funds. Contact editor Alice Waugh at x8-5401 or awaugh@mit.edu if you know of any such volunteers.
For more information on the campaign, see MIT's United Way web site or the United Way of Massachusetts Bay site, or call Liz Mulcahy or Annmarie Cameron in OSCS at x3-7914.
