MIT has been ranked among the top universities with the most successful start-up founders according to a new survey, reports Patrick Jack for Times Higher Education.

MIT has been selected as the world’s best university in the 2024 QS World University Rankings, reports Cecilia Rodriguez for Forbes. MIT has secured “the top position for the 12^th consecutive year,” writes Rodriguez.

In an article for U.S. News & World Report spotlighting U.S. universities that offer students access to the latest cutting-edge technologies, Cole Claybourn spotlights MIT’s maker culture. “‘Maker culture’ permeates the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where students work in collaborative settings to innovate and create,” Claybourn writes. 

A number of MIT startups including Scale AI and Alto Pharmacy have named to CNBC’s Disruptor 50 list, “which highlights private companies that are chasing some of the market’s biggest opportunities and growing despite a tough capital markets environment and slowing economy.” CNBC explains that: “Many of the Disruptor 50 companies have a social or environmental purpose that is core to their business model, including climate change, sustainable development, health care, financial inequities, and an inefficient global supply chain.”

According to the US Department of Education, MIT is among the least expensive American universities for undergraduate students receiving federal financial aid, reports Justin Fox for Bloomberg. 

MIT has ranked first in 11 different academic fields in the latest QS World University Rankings, reports Michael T. Nietzel for Forbes.

A new survey by Princeton Review finds that MIT is the top dream college in the country among college applicants, reports Lara Salahi for NBC Boston.

MIT has been named to the top spot on the Forbes list of America’s best large employers, reports Rachel Rabkin Peachman for Forbes. "Participants were asked if they would recommend their current employers to friends and family (on a scale of 0 to 10), and to cite any other employer they would also recommend," writes Rabkin Peachman. "The final list ranks the 500 companies that received the most recommendations."

MIT has been named the best university for social sciences degrees in the United States for 2023 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. “All undergraduate students at MIT take classes in the arts and social sciences and many end up taking joint degrees between the sciences and the social sciences,” writes Times Higher Education.

MIT has been named one of the best U.S. universities for physical science degrees, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023. Times Higher Education highlights how MIT students in physics “take a range of core classes such as classical mechanics and quantum mechanics.”

MIT has been named one of the top universities in the country for educating students that go on to found venture-capital-backed startups, according to PitchBook’s annual rankings, reports Steph Solis for Axios.

MIT has been named one of the top 10 best colleges in the United States by U.S. News & World Report, writes Celia Fernandez for CNBC.

MIT was named to the number two spot in the U.S. News & World Report ranking of the best colleges and universities across the country, reports Shannon Larson for The Boston Globe. MIT also “led the pack of undergraduate engineering programs in which a doctorate is the highest degree offered,” and was also “recognized for its undergraduate business program, coming in at No. 2,” writes Larson. 

MIT was ranked first in the Forbes 2022 top colleges ranking, reports Emma Whitford and Caroline Howard for Forbes. “Forbes’ top colleges ranking spotlights schools that offer an excellent education at a great price, graduate high-earners and propel students to become successful entrepreneurs and influential leaders in their fields,” they write. “The Massachusetts Institute of Technology—ranked number one for the first time this year—accomplishes all of this and more.”

In an interview with QS Vice President Ben Sowter, Associate Provost Richard Lester reflected on the Institute’s success as a global leader of higher education. “No academic institution can be thought of – or can think of itself – in isolation,” said Lester. “We benefit from, and we depend on, a network of institutions with whom we exchange knowledge and ideas.”
