Nearly 300 MIT community members gathered to recognize outstanding students, faculty, and staff at the annual MIT Awards Convocation on May 8. In total, 29 prizes were awarded to 50 recipients to recognize their achievements in academics and teaching, community service, athletics, student life, the arts, and service to MIT.

The selection of awardees is a labor of love shared across 29 committees. Nominations are gathered from the MIT community for each award over several weeks each spring. Winners are then selected by committees convened for each award.

In his closing remarks, MIT President L. Rafael Reif commended both the award recipients and the community members who nominated them. “We were able to celebrate their achievements today because those around them recognized their remarkable contributions to MIT,” Reif said.

Visit the Awards Convocation website for more information about each award, to see a full list of 2014 winners.
