The German American Chamber of Commerce is partnering with MIT and the City of Cambridge to present dasHAUS — a traveling pavilion of advanced technologies for home construction and solar energy use.
The grand opening of dasHAUS will take place Wednesday, June 20, at 4:30 p.m. on the MIT campus at 219 Vassar St. Educational activities and programs are then scheduled every day through June 27. For the schedule of events (many of which require an RSVP), please see: http://cambridge.dashaustour.com/
John Fernandez, associate professor in the Department of Architecture and director of its Building Technology Program, will speak at the June 20 grand opening, along with Cambridge Mayor Henrietta Davis and several other dignitaries.
Christoph Reinhart, associate professor in the Department of Architecture and a member of the Building Technology Program, will speak about his work in solar mapping at an all-day forum called “Cambridge Day” on June 26.
The dasHAUS North American tour, which runs from October 2011 to November 2012, will visit 12 cities in the United States and Canada, including Cambridge. Its objectives are to foster an international dialogue about advanced building technologies and to share German innovations that have achieved sustainable construction and operational energy savings.
