Nominations due Oct. 26 for 2010 MIT Excellence Awards

It’s that time of year again — time to recognize teams and individuals for their excellence. Submit nominations for the Excellence Awards any time between now and the final deadline:

  • Lincoln Laboratory nominees: Monday, October 19, 2009
  • Campus and all other nominees: Monday, October 26, 2009

The MIT Excellence Awards acknowledge the extraordinary efforts made by members of our community toward fulfilling the goals, values, and mission of the Institute. This is among the highest honors awarded to staff by MIT. Professionalism, commitment to best practices, and high standards of excellence are at the heart of these awards. 

Award Categories

> INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS: collaborating for results

> BRINGING OUT THE BEST: everyday leadership throughout MIT

> SERVING THE CLIENT: providing consistent and exceptional service

> UNSUNG HERO: working behind the scene

Eligibility

The awards are intended for staff employed by MIT in the following categories:

  • Service
  • Support
  • Administrative
  • Sponsored research staff

They are also for faculty and other academic staff where their work meets the specific guidelines described within the six award categories. These awards are not intended to recognize research or teaching accomplishments. Both teams and individuals are eligible to be nominated for any of the award categories. Subcontractors, consultants, outsourced, and temporary employees are not eligible for the cash award.

Staff and Faculty members who serve on the MIT Excellence Awards Selection Committee are not eligible for a team or individual award during the year they serve.

Reward Amount

Individual recipients receive $2,000; teams receive up to $10,000 ($2,000 maximum per individual).

MIT goes the Infinite Mile – Schools and Departments recognize their staff

Every year, across the Institute, schools and departments recognize teams and individuals for their significant accomplishments through their Infinite Mile Award programs. Each area has its own unique way of celebrating top performers.
