Publishing just got easier at MIT with a trio of web sites that offer access to an extensive array of publishing resources. The Publishing Services Bureau(PSB) in collaboration with Information Systems has developed this online toolkit for staff, students and faculty who produce print and online media. The web sites are accessible from a portal page at http://web.mit.edu/psb/portal.
Designed to support both first-time desktop publishers and seasoned communications professionals, the new online resources will let MIT community members order stationery online, download the Institute's graphic symbols for print or web, and get in-depth guidance on producing print and electronic media.

With this new web site, the MIT community has access to the PSB's extensive storehouse of communications knowledge and resources. The site provides guidance on virtually all issues involved in planning a print or electronic project, from establishing schedules to examining proofs. It also features case studies and a kit of essential resources including templates, forms and a handy photo library.

In addition to explaining how MIT's new logo was developed, the site has practical tools including an array of logo downloads for print and web applications. Visitors also can get expert color advice at the Logo Lab or download templates that correspond to the Institute's new stationery designs.

PSB and Information Systems have collaborated with Minuteman Press of Cambridge to provide a streamlined process for ordering stationery and business cards online. At this site, members of the MIT community can input and store ordering information, view proofs and submit orders. The new system offers three designs of coordinated letterhead, envelopes and business cards and a seven-day order turnaround. Because MIT has negotiated a group discount for web orders, departments will also benefit financially from ordering online
Anyone who would like expert guidance can attend a lunchtime QuickStart class featuring stationery ordering demos. The next two QuickStarts are slated for May 30 and June 25 from noon to 1 p.m. at the N42 Demo Center.
