Humanitarian studies applications due soon

Graduate student applications for the Inter-University Initiative on Humanitarian Studies and Field Practice are due by Sept. 3. The collaborative certificate program allows eligible students from the Harvard School of Public Health, the School of Nutrition Science Policy at Tufts University and MIT to pursue a comprehensive curriculum in humanitarian studies, including a three-month field placement. Vendor fair on Sept. 11

MIT's annual vendor fair will be held Thursday, Sept. 11 on McDermott Court (outside buildings 54 and building 18) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine. More than 100 of MIT's external and internal providers will display their products and answer questions.

MIT vendors will include staff from the Copy Technology Centers; Dining; Parking and Transportation; Card Services; MIT Police; the Information Center; the Environment, Health and Safety Office; and Facilities. There will also be information on recycling, SAPweb enhancements and the MIT VIP credit card. Also on hand will be outside vendors of office and computer supplies, laboratory apparatus, chemicals, electronic components, small equipment, furniture, temporary help, compressed gas and other goods and services.

CEHS seeks proposals

The Center for Environmental Health Sciences (CEHS) invites applications for pilot projects related to environmental health research. The CEHS encourages applications from junior faculty, and collaborative, interdisciplinary projects are particularly welcome. The CEHS expects to fund five or more projects with a total cost of $15,000 to $25,000 each. MIT community members have until Sept. 12 to change their contact information that will appear in the printed version of the Faculty and Staff Directory. Use employee self-service (ESS) at http://web.mit.edu/sapwebss to view and update office and home addresses; telephone, mobile phone and pager numbers; and MIT e-mail addresses.
