Panel discussion looks at consequences of race

The Committee on Campus Race Relations and the Boston YWCA will present "Race--The Power of an Illusion" on Thursday, April 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Room 3-270. This panel discussion will trace how beliefs about race took such a powerful hold on our imagination and argues that while race may be largely a biological fiction, its consequences are very real. Panelists include professors Christopher Capozzola (history), Jean Jackson (anthropology), Jonathan A. King (biology), Melissa Nobles (political science) and Jeffrey Ravel (history). SAPweb site redesigned

A redesigned SAPweb site (http://web.mit.edu/sapweb) will be launched on April 28. The new site is organized by business needs, the tabs have been reorganized, and two new tabs (Inboxes and Reporting) have been added. There are new drop-down menus for each tab, and several transactions have been relocated. New features include requisition approval on the web, expanded search capabilities, new JV Report features and Data Warehouse links from the Reporting tab. Demonstrations of the new site will be given on Wednesday, April 23 at noon in Wong Auditorium, and four others all in Room 56-154--Thursday, April 24 at noon and 2 p.m.; Tuesday, April 29 at noon; and Thursday, May 1 at 10 a.m.

There will be a SAP service outage for system updates affecting SAP, SAPweb and ECAT from 10 p.m. on Thursday, April 24 until noon on Monday, April 28. For more information, go to http://web.mit.edu/sapr3/announce.

Club establishes award for South Asians

The Indian Business Club at MIT has established the Global Indus Technovators Awards to honor 20 people of South Asian origin from around the world who have contributed substantially to the development of technologies with the potential for widespread impact. Nominees must be of South Asian origin and under the age of 40. Nominations will be open until May 31. Forms and more information are available at http://technovators.mit.edu.
