Margaret Cho plays MIT in October
Comedian Margaret Cho brings her "Revolution Tour," hailed by the Chicago Sun-Times as "her strongest show yet," to Kresge Auditorium on Friday, Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. (doors will open at 7:30 p.m.).
A limited number of tickets (250) go on sale to MIT faculty and staff starting Sept. 2. All tickets will be available in the MITAC office in Room 50-005. Tickets, costing $5 for students and $10 for faculty and staff, are general admission and nonrefundable. There is a limit of two tickets per MIT ID.
Cho's performance is co-sponsored by LBGT@MIT, the Program in Women's Studies, the Peter de Florez Fund, Counseling and Support Services, the Graduate Student Council, the Office of the Arts and the Division of Student Life. Decorate on a budget with loaned art
MIT's List Visual Arts Center presents its annual "Student Loan Art Program Exhibition" from Tuesday, Sept. 2 through Sunday, Sept. 14. The collection features more than 300 framed contemporary prints and photos by leading modern and contemporary artists, all from MIT's permanent collection and available for loan by lottery to MIT students.
Artists represented in this collection have been invited to a public reception on Friday, Sept. 5 from 5-7 p.m. A separate graduate students' reception will be held Friday, Sept. 12 from 5-7 p.m.
MIT artists open studios in Cambridgeport
Electrical engineering and computer science graduate student Andrew Chen, architecture lecturer Joe Gibbons and Helen Lee (S.B. 2000), technical instructor at MIT's Glass Lab, are three of the artists taking part in this year's annual Cambridgeport Artists Open Studios on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 6-7. Art lovers can check out Chen's documentary and fine art photography and Gibbons' videos, while architecture aficianados can get a glimpse inside MIT's new Sidney-Pacific graduate residence. Both artists will be using common spaces on the first floor (Chen in the gallery and Gibbons in the multipurpose room).
