The Center for Environmental Health Sciences invites faculty to submit applications to fund pilot projects related to environmental health research. The deadline is Aug. 31.
The purpose of these pilot projects is to:
Provide initial support for new investigators to establish new lines of research in the area of environmental health
Allow exploration of innovative new directions representing a significant departure from ongoing funded research for established investigators in environmental health sciences
Stimulate investigators from other areas of endeavor to apply their expertise to environmental health research.
The Center for Environmental Health Sciences (CEHS), an interdisciplinary research center funded by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, expects that at least five projects will be funded at $15,000 to $25,000 each.
Applicants should submit a four-page proposal that includes specific aims, background and significance, and a research plan, with a detailed budget and justification on a separate page. The application should also include a biographical sketch and other support forms, both in NIH format (forms are available online).
Send six copies of the application to CEHS administrative officer Gerti Gillen in Room 56-235. The center's steering committee will review proposals and make decisions at its September meeting; funds should be available by Oct. 1.
