SPORTS & FITNESS CENTER
A temporary entrance to du Pont is now located at Building W31 (Campus Police) on Massachusetts Avenue. There are also two entrances on Vassar Street: near the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Vassar Street, and via the alley between Rockwell cage and du Pont gym. These are currently the only points of access to du Pont.
BAKER HOUSE
The next phase of renovation to the Baker House residence hall will take place this summer. Work will include window replacement, asbestos abatement, window caulking, lead paint removal, restoration of exterior stucco, brick work and landscaping.
HAYDEN LIBRARY
This project will move and reshape the circulation area, which will expand to include the Reserve Book Room collection and services, as well as a 24/7 study space. During the renovation, which will run through late August, entrance to the Science and Humanities libraries will be through the Lewis Music Library, where the MIT Libraries' no-food, no-drink policy is strictly enforced. Please note that book returns and other circulation services will be located at the Lewis Music Library circulation desk during this period.
STATA CENTER
Chilled water excavation and installation near the Stata project is underway. This construction will continue through the end of June. Excavation near the Beacon Skanska trailer will be expanded toward buildings 66 and 68 in order to connect chilled water lines to Building 68. Pedestrian traffic will be re-routed. Truck deliveries will also be redirected. Interior underground masonry, HVAC installation, plumbing and fire protection work are ongoing.
SIMMONS HALL
Installation of life safety equipment, including fire detection systems and windows, is under way.
CHEMISTRY BUILDING
Installation of mechanical, electrical and piping systems continues on all floors. Faculty members are now moving into new labs.
70 PACIFIC ST.
Interior drywalling, painting, floor tiling, and installation of carpeting and bathroom finishes continues. Landscaping and masonry work are underway.
AMHERST ALLEY REPAIRS
Beginning in mid-June and continuing through the summer, several manholes on the west side of campus will be under construction. Welding, cutting and excavation for expansion joint replacement may cause noise and disruption.
VASSAR STREET UTILITIES
A water main is being installed along Vassar Street from Massachusetts Avenue toward Main Street. This may affect parking and traffic. Vassar Street may be one-way heading westbound from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on some weekdays.
