CHEMISTRY BUILDING
Some of the sections of the building will be sealed for decontamination and asbestos removal. All affected areas will be marked and barricaded; accessibility to some areas of the east corridors will be restricted. Periodic noise may occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pedestrian access may be restricted between Buildings 16, 18 and 56.
70 PACIFIC ST.
Painting, floor tiling and the installation of bathroom fixtures are under way. Interior drywalling continues.
STATA CENTER
Installation of exposed pipes is ongoing on parking levels P2, P1 and the basement. Interior underground masonry continues. Occupants of Building 36 may experience noise and odor; mitigation for construction equipment exhaust fumes in Building 36 is being implemented.
SIMMONS HALL
Installation of windows and windowpanes continues. Installation of the permanent roof membrane is nearly complete.
VASSAR STREET UTILITIES
Sewer replacement work has begun near Building 42 and will continue west. Traffic flow and parking may be affected. The crosswalk at Vassar Street from the Albany Street garage to the main entrance of Building 39 is back in place. The rear of the parking lot between Buildings 45 and 48 is now closed to allow for construction of utilities.
SPORTS & FITNESS CENTER
Removing of scaffolding will begin. Drywall framing and rough plumbing continue, with special precautions regarding generation of noise. Access to W34 and Kresge Auditorium may be congested as construction continues.
KENDALL HOTEL
The hotel across from the MIT Coop will open this spring. For information, call (617) 354-3600.
W31 ROOF REPAIR
The rebuilding of the battlement is now complete for the winter. The last phase of the project, installing new roofing on W31, will begin late this month and will be complete in the spring.
TRAFFIC SIGNALS
The traffic lights at Wadsworth and Endicott streets are fully installed. Power should be connected and the signals activated shortly. Landscape work will begin in the spring.
