The Pilgrim Theatre 's premiere of "Faust 2002" involves six MIT affiliates. Alumni Christopher Crowley (S.B. 1990, S.M.) and Monica Gomi (S.B. 1996) are acting in the production; Vladimir Zelevinsky (S.B. 1994, S.M.) is Pilgrim's associate artist; and Josh Randall, a senior in electrical engineering and computer science, is the assistant lighting designer. Kim Mancuso, a lecturer in Music and Theater Arts, is co-founder and artistic director of Pilgrim, and Kermit Dunkelberg, Pilgrim co-founder and actor, is a former instructor in Theater Arts at MIT. Performances are April 12-14, April 18-21 and April 24-27 at the Boston Center for the Arts ' Cyclorama (539 Tremont St.) at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 for students and seniors; $22 general admission. Choreographer, actress and dancer Isaura Oliveira, who teaches Afro-Brazilian dance at MIT, will lead a workshop in Afro-Brazilian dance on Wednesday, April 24 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at The Dance Complex (536 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge). Oliveira will also appear in "A Fronteira" (The Frontier), a locally made film about Brazilian immigrants in New England soon to be released. Oliveira's character, Isabel, comes to America illegally to have a "simple family life" but things go awry when her husband leaves her and her son turns to drugs and gangs. Based on more than 80 interviews, the film is predominantly in Portuguese with English subtitles. Plans for the film's release are still pending.
