Construction update

STATA CENTER

Excavation continues, creating some traffic difficulties and intermittent odors while the marsh layer is removed. Anyone wishing some temporary relief from the odor may obtain a freshener from the Stata Center project trailer near the pool entrance between Buildings 56 and 16.

MASS. AVE.

The crosswalk at 77 Massachusetts Ave. has been temporarily relocated 100 feet north towards Vassar Street. Handicapped access to the main building will be provided at the Amherst Street crosswalk only.

ALBANY GARAGE

The shuttle service to parking facilities along Albany Street will continue until mid-February while the walkway between Buildings 42 and 44 at the railroad crossing remains closed. Commuters needing a shuttle after 6pm may use the Institute's SafeRide van.

GRADUATE HOUSING

Construction preparation at 70 Pacific St. may cause noise, dust and disruption to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

CHEMISTRY BUILDING

Construction activity requires a temporary electrical power outage necessitating a closure of the building from 4:30pm on Thursday, Feb. 8 through 8am on Friday, Feb. 9.

SIMMONS HALL

Placement of a concrete base may cause disruption to vehicular traffic on Vassar Street.

LIFE SAFETY

Installation of a fire protection water pipe near Kresge Auditorium may disrupt daytime vehicular traffic and cause noise, vibration and some dust.
