Campus construction update

CONSTRUCTION BEGUN ON DORM

Construction work has begun on the new undergraduate residence hall on Vassar Street. A section of Vassar Street (between 219 and 289) will be fenced to create the construction work zone. The existing light poles and asphalt paving at the site's former parking lot will be removed. The steel piling operation will begin on October 23.

ALBANY ST. GARAGE

The walkway to the Albany Garage at the railroad crossing in between Buildings 44 and 43 on Vassar Street will be closed through Monday, Oct. 23, due to the installation of steel sheet piling.

AMES AND AMHERST STREETS

Utility relocation work on Ames and Amherst streets through the end of the year will affect traffic, parking, pedestrians and residents of Senior House and East Campus. The work is part of the Media Lab expansion project due for completion in December 2003.

OTHER WORK

Work on other projects reported in the October 4 issue of Tech Talk continues at the Sports and Fitness Center (ground-breaking on October 27), the Stata Center, Walker Memorial and along Massachusetts Avenue.
