Paul A. Michelman has joined the staff of the Sloan School of Management as director of publications in the Office of Communication.
Mr. Michelman will oversee the creation and operation of a new service that will help Sloan's programs, centers and research groups determine their publications needs and match these needs with appropriate vendors for design, writing, production and distribution. This approach will help eliminate redundancies among the School's publications, enhance the professionalism and effectiveness of materials produced, encourage the use of emerging media where appropriate, allow for lower overall costs through negotiations with vendors and ensure that each publication is aligned with the School's strategic goals.
Most recently, Mr. Michelman was associate director for publications in the admissions office at Boston University, where he oversaw the conception, writing and production of a broad spectrum of award-winning printed materials. He also developed materials for other media including video, CD-ROM and the World Wide Web.
Prior to his job at Boston University, Mr. Michelman's career included work as a reporter in Washington, DC, a stint as a free-lance writer and experience as an account supervisor for a public relations firm. He has also taught undergraduate writing as a lecturer in BU's College of Communication. He holds the BS degree in communication and the MS in journalism, both from Northwestern University.
At Sloan, Mr. Michelman fills a slot vacated by Paula B. Cronin (SM '77), who retired in July.
